Hello, Cami

Curious, open-minded and slightly hyperactive

This is more of an informal introduction to who I am than a professional introduction

My name is Camily. I’m a computer scientist who graduated in 2025. I currently live in Curitiba, Brazil, although I’ve spent a good part of my life moving between different cities. I’ve lived in eight so far, which I think made me pretty adaptable and gave me an early sense of how big the world actually is.

I would define myself as a very curious person. I have a suspicious number of unfinished side projects and a very limited ability to look at an interesting idea and think:"maybe I don’t need to do anything with this".

My interests tend to wander a lot between philosophy, technology, art, psychology, current events, or some completely random idea I stumbled across at 1 a.m. Even when I decide not to deep dive into something, I still feel the need to write it down somewhere, just in case.

I also tend to think in first principles. If I can understand the basic pieces of something, I feel like I can reason my way through the rest. There is a quote I really like:

If you know the first principles of something, you can build the rest of your knowledge around them to produce something new.

On the technical side, I have a particular weakness for DevOps, distributed systems, infrastructure, Machine Learning, Data Engineering and LLMs. I’m especially interested in understanding how these technologies work underneath the abstractions we usually interact with.

Outside of tech, I like hackathons, video games, movies, music, books and whittling. Basically, it's just:"that looks interesting, I should try it".

I played fingerstyle guitar for a few years. I’ve also tried painting, drawing, and writing short stories. More recently, I bought a Swiss Army knife because I decided I wanted to learn whittling and make small wooden sculptures. I have a funny story from my first few weeks of learning it... SPOILER! it ended with a big scar on the palm of my hand.

I really enjoy working with other people and bouncing ideas around, even though I can be a little reserved and shy at first. If you ever need someone for a hackathon team, I’m probably in. I’m also always up for talking about IT and ML. Feel free to reach out to me on LinkedIn.

So yeah, that’s me. Sorry about the long intro btw
